Kitesurfing License The Kitesurfing License of the Kitesurfing and Snowkite Association is an international certificate of competency for the sport of kitesurfing and snowkiting. This license requires a substantially more extensive training duration compared with the well-known basic certificates from the sport of windsurfing or sailing. The document guarantees that all owners of this document have the necessary basic knowledge and skills of the sport and perform it carefully in agreement with nature and environment as well as in the interest of other sportsmen. Training in seven Stages (steps) The training for the international kitesurfing licence is divided into 7 stages. Each step includes a theory part and a practice part. At the end of each step the pupil shows his practical qualification. Of course we have also suitable training material available for the theory part. Examination Six practical and a theoretical examination are prescribed for the entire kitesurfing license. Parts of the practical examination can be examined during instruction. Step I Theory Step II Land training (construction, protection, starting, steering and landing of the kite), district choice, safe handling of the equipment Step III Reaching the water safely, bodydrag at half wind course (one-handed) and downwind course, relaunch of a kite lying in the water Step IV Waterstart and driving first meters Step V Riding back to the place you have started, direction change, self-rescue, swerving to leeward Step VI Riding upwind, controlled swerving on all courses, first standard jumps, rescue of others
